"notes": "The NEWER unit. 4 slots, chainable to FOUR units for 16 colors (19 on a Kobra X, whose toolhead supplies three of its own inputs alongside them). Four independent brushless motors instead of two, 50 mm/s feed rate and about 56 s per filament change against the ACE Pro's 25 mm/s and 84 s (Anycubic Lab). 65 C active drying while printing; active AND passive moisture control with an electromagnetic valve and a silicone seal; temperature AND humidity sensing; sealed storage; an externally mounted PTFE tube option; an alumina-ceramic feed port. Its supported-material list adds exactly what the ACE Pro lacks: PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PAHT-CF, PVA (dry) and BVOH (dry), which is what makes a soluble-support workflow possible. Sold in two variants at the same $249: one for Kobra X / S1 Max / S1, one for Kobra 4 / 3 Max / 3 V2 / 3. Anycubic states the ACE Pro and ACE 2 Pro cannot be used simultaneously, and warns that cardboard spools can interfere with its operation. Anycubic's noise footnote is 48 dB closed-door and 55 dB with drying enabled, measured by its own lab, not independently. No independent purge measurement was found for the boxed unit; the only independent purge data in this file is Tom's Hardware's, and that is for the Kobra X's built-in system, not for this box. CONFLICT internal to the same T1 page (read 2026-09-06): the ACE 2 Pro's spec-table 'Printer Compatibility' row and its FAQ both read 'Kobra X / Kobra S1 Max / Kobra S1 / Kobra 3 Max / Kobra 3 V2 / Kobra 3' and do not name the Kobra 4, yet Anycubic sells an 'ACE 2 Pro for Kobra 4 / Kobra 3 Max / Kobra 3 V2 / Kobra 3' variant at the same $249 and the Kobra 4 Combo ships one in the box (packing-list item 2). The Kobra 4 is kept in compatible_printer_ids on the strength of that variant and that packing list; the stale spec row is why no PVA/BVOH soluble-support claim is made for the Kobra 4. PHASE 2, 2026-09-06: a single measurement on one print is thin evidence and is labeled as such; it is recorded because the field was previously empty. The ACE 2 Pro's per-slot feed motors are a genuine hardware fix for the original ACE Pro's misfeed problem, independently confirmed by Tom's Hardware.",

Tom's Hardware weighed the scraps from a Kobra S1 print: a 312 g dragon cost 730 g in supports, prime tower and purge, and a two-part book-nook job wasted 987 g. VoxelMatters weighed a 10.9 g 3DBenchy on the same machine and got 183 g of purge - 17x more filament wasted than used. Tom's Hardware on the Kobra 3 Max measured an eight-color, 902-swap, 220 g dragon at 820 g of waste before the Anycubic Slicer purge update and 357 g after it, i.e. the software update roughly halved it. Notebookcheck on the Kobra 3 V2: 'the weight of the waste quickly exceeds that of the actual object'. Creative Bloq measured a further avoidable loss - about 100 g of PLA burned in one print because the ACE Pro re-purges after every pause even when resuming the same color. Filling the plate with several models, or purging into infill or a purge object, brings the ratio down sharply; single small models are the worst case.",

Two brushless motors, 25 mm/s feed rate, roughly 84 s per filament change (Anycubic Lab figures). Drying: heated to 55 C maximum and it can dry while printing for up to 24 h, but the spec table says 'Active Moisture Control: Not supported' and 'Sealed Storage: Not supported', and it monitors temperature only - no humidity sensor. Supported materials are PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PP and HIPS; no carbon-fiber grades and no PVA are listed, and TPU cannot be used with it at all. Fits Kobra S1, Kobra 3, Kobra 3 V2 and Kobra 3 Max, with a different SKU per printer. Anycubic states that the ACE Pro and the ACE 2 Pro cannot be used simultaneously. $219 on 2026-09-06 against a $319 compare-at price. Anycubic publishes no purge figure and no independent measurement of this unit was found. STOCK, 2026-09-06: of the three printer-specific ACE Pro variants on the US store only 'For Kobra 3 Max' was in stock; 'For Kobra 3' and 'For Kobra S1' were both out of stock, and there is no 'For Kobra 3 V2' variant at all. Every ACE Pro configuration in this file is a bundle that ships the unit in the box, so none of them depends on that standalone availability. PHASE 2, 2026-09-06: purge_waste filled from five independent measurements. Note that these span the ACE Pro's whole software history - the 820 g / 357 g pair is the same model before and after Anycubic Slicer gained purge objects and flush tuning, so pre-update figures should not be read as current behavior.",

Airtight seal plus desiccant and a humidity SENSOR, but no active drying element - that is the AMS 2 Pro's headline upgrade, and Bambu's own P1S product page recommends the AMS 2 Pro Combo over the AMS Combo for that reason. 368x283x224 mm, 2.5 kg. Same filament exclusions as the AMS 2 Pro (no TPE/TPU, no damp PVA/BVOH, no CF/GF). Up to 4 in parallel via the AMS hub for 16 colors. Ships with PTFE tube, 6-pin and 4-pin bus cables, two spare filament cutters, a filament buffer, three reusable spools and a high-temperature reusable spool.\n\nPHASE 2 EVIDENCE (added 2026-09-06). On the question this file needs answered - does the original AMS's lack of active drying actually hurt a PETG-heavy buyer? - owners who have run both units say no. The recurring answer is that drying is not the deciding difference for PLA and PETG provided filament is stored dry, that the AMS 2 Pro cannot dry while printing anyway, and that the real difference is mechanical: stronger feed motors, a ceramic feed insert instead of plastic, and jams and PTFE tubes reachable without dismantling the unit. The original AMS's actual weakness is feeding, not humidity - see ki-bambu-ams1-feed-jams: cardboard and lightweight spools bind or unspool inside it, and filament snapping in the under-unit PTFE tubes needs partial disassembly to clear. Tom's Hardware states editorially that the AMS lite 'prevents jams more than the original model'.",

On the Creality Hi (2025-09-07) a four-color PETG print used 32.32 g and wasted 23.25 g (about 72% overhead), while a two-color print with a single swap used 78.99 g and wasted only 0.64 g. Tom's attributes the volume to the long melt zone of the high-flow 'Unicorn' hotend and lists 'Color unit wastes more than the competition' as a con on the K2 Plus and 'Long, high-flow hotend requires more purge waste' on the K2 Pro. Practical reading: waste scales with the NUMBER of color changes, not with print size, so two-color work is nearly free and four-color work can cost as much filament as the part itself.",

"notes": "PRICE CONFLICT FROM PHASE 0, RESOLVED. The CFS product page shows both $319.00 and $139.00. $319.00 is the CFS itself (single variant, no other option on the page). $139.00 is the 'Creality CFS Workstand', a separate accessory listed in the page's Accessories rail alongside a $10.42 Creality 485 cable and a $20.82 CFS Feed and Return Kit. There is no $139 CFS variant. Tom's Hardware independently quotes $319 for the CFS in its K2 Pro review pricing table (2025-12-08), which corroborates the higher figure. COMPATIBILITY, ESTABLISHED PER PRINTER RATHER THAN ASSUMED. Confirmed compatible: K2, K2 Pro and K2 Plus (Creality's K2-series page: 'All three models can be paired with CFS for multicolor printing - 4 CFS units for up to 16 colors'); Creality Hi (Creality's Hi spec page carries a CFS spec block reading 'Supported 3D Printer: Creality Hi', with 'CFS Connection <=4 (Separate power source required for 2 and more units)'); K2 SE (the shipping $499 SKU is literally named 'K2 SE Combo (CFS + Filament x2)'). Confirmed NOT compatible, contrary to the loose 'K1/K2/Hi series' shorthand: the K1, K1C and K1 Max take the different CFS-C unit, not this one \u2014 the CFS store page scopes itself to 'Creality Hi and K2 series printers'. The SPARKX i7 does not take this CFS either; Creality's i7 FAQ (2026-01-19) says so in as many words. Chaining: up to four units for 16 colors on the K2 series and the Hi. On the Hi, Creality states units two through four need their own power supply, which is an unpriced extra cost not captured in any configuration here. Chaining on the K2 SE was not verified. Filaments: PLA/PETG/ABS/ASA/PET/PLA-CF. Explicitly NOT flexible TPU, damp BVOH/PVA, or warped cardboard spools. Water-soluble supports are therefore possible in principle but only with well-dried BVOH/PVA. humidity_control is true in the sense of sealed desiccant storage with a temperature/humidity readout; it is a passive dry box, NOT an active heated dryer.",

It fits by adding an external cutter and buffer plus a firmware update, with no toolhead surgery. TWO BLOCKERS, BOTH IMPORTANT FOR ROB. First, on 2026-09-06 the US store lists it as SOLD OUT with a 'Notify Me' button, so a K1-family multi-color configuration cannot actually be completed today. Second, and worse: Creality's own spec table lists its compatible filaments as 'Hyper PLA, CR-PLA, CR-Silk. Compatibility with more filaments via firmware update.' PETG \u2014 the material Rob prints most \u2014 is not on that list as of 2026-09-06. Not chainable: 'Multiple CFS-C Units: Not supported', so four colors is the hard ceiling. "notes": "$37.92 (list $42.13) for a kit of 0.4 mm x2, 0.6 mm x1 and 0.8 mm x1 nozzles, listed as an accessory on the K2, K2 Pro and K2 Plus store pages with the compatibility string '(Compatible with K2/K2 Plus/Creality Hi)'. Tom's Hardware's Creality Hi spec table (2025-09-07) describes the stock 'unicorn' as '.4 high flow hardened steel', and Creality's K2 Plus page describes its stock nozzle as a tri-metal design with a hardened steel tip. This kit is therefore recorded as a SPARE / ALTERNATE-DIAMETER purchase, not as a required CF/GF upgrade \u2014 the K2 line and the Hi already ship hardened. It is listed on those printers as hardened_nozzle_addon_id so the replacement cost is known, but it is deliberately NOT included in any configuration's future_proofing_items. A different Unicorn kit exists for the K1C / Ender-3 V3 / Ender-3 V3 Plus at $36.85; it is a separate SKU and is not modeled here.",

"purge_waste": "No vendor figure is published and no laboratory measurement was found. Independent and owner evidence is consistent and unflattering: AppleInsider (September 2025) lists 'multi-color printing leads to a lot of waste, longer printing times' as a con and describes purge being ejected through a hole in the rear of the machine onto the desk or floor. An AD5X owner (r/FlashForge, retrieved 2026-09-06) ran a 125 g print and reports roughly 0.25 g dumped after every single color change on top of the configured flush volume, and that the flush-into-object setting appears not to consume the designated flush. A second r/FlashForge thread (retrieved 2026-09-06) describes the community consensus that the purge volume is effectively fixed in firmware and that slicer flushing volumes are ignored. Treat the IFS as a conventional single-nozzle spool-switching MMU with high, poorly controllable waste - not as a low-waste system. MEASURED FIGURES ADDED 2026-09-06: Tom's Hardware weighed the waste from a full plate of 33 small models and found 11 g consumed by 23 color changes - about 0.48 g per change, on a part that itself weighs 9 g - and reports the default flush as 540 mm3, 'about .67 grams'. That is the number to use. The other measured datum is historical and much worse: 3DPrint.com's March 2025 review found the machine purging repeatedly for nearly five minutes per color change and burning more than 1.75 kg of TPU on a 150 g model; no source after March 2025 reproduces it, so it is recorded as an early-firmware defect (ki-flashforge-ad5x-purge-runaway-2025) rather than as the machine's behavior today. Note what has NOT changed: Tom's Hardware confirms the slicer still never tells you how much filament the flushes will consume.",

"notes": "WHICH MACHINES THIS COUNTS AS A FIRST-PARTY PATH FOR - CORRECTED ON AUDIT 2026-09-06. It counts for the Formbot VORON 2.4 kit and it does NOT count for the Formbot Troodons. It counts for the Voron because the Voron 2.4 has no manufacturer: it is a community design published by VORON Design under GPL-3.0, ArmoredTurtle's BoxTurtle is the Voron ecosystem's own AMS answer and says so - 'an AMS for any klipperized printer regardless of form factor but VORON Design printers in particular' - and Formbot, the vendor that sells the Voron 2.4 whole-printer kit, sells this unit from the same store. That is exactly hard filter (c)'s third clause, 'a whole-printer kit whose vendor sells the multi-material unit for it'. It does NOT count for the Troodon 2.0 Pro or the Troodon 2.0 Pro Mini, and the earlier version of this file said it did. Three things sink that: (1) the Troodon is not a whole-printer kit - this file's own record sets is_kit false and quotes Formbot calling it '95% pre-assembled' - so the third clause does not reach it, and the second clause needs 'an official addon from the printer's own manufacturer', which means an addon Formbot offers FOR the Troodon; (2) no source anywhere says this unit fits a Troodon. Formbot's BoxTurtle product page names no printer model at all, and Formbot's own site navigation files BoxTurtle under Voron Series and under Spare Parts > Voron Series - never under Troodon Series (verified on the Troodon 350 page, the Troodon Mini page and the Information page, 2026-09-06); (3) 00_BRIEF's INCLUDE_KITS knob names 'Box Turtle' outright in its list of bolt-on multi-material kits that are NOT a qualifying multi-color path, and the one exception the rules grant is the community-designed machine with no manufacturer. The Troodon has a manufacturer. The two Troodon configurations are therefore restructured as bare printers with no_multimaterial_path true and the BoxTurtle option named in third_party_mm_kit_note, which is the same treatment unranked.json gives a Sovol SV08 with a Co Print kit. By the same test a Box Turtle on a Rat Rig V-Core 4.1 does not qualify either - see cfg-ratrig-vcore41-idex. compatible_printer_ids still lists the Troodons because both are Klipper machines and nothing says it will not physically work; that is an engineering guess, not a sourced fact, and it is flagged in unverified. WHAT IT IS. Four lanes, each with its own extruder motor and a low-drag top-fed electric respooler, merging into a hub with a sensor and a single outlet to the toolhead, buffered by a TurtleNeck. Software is the AFC-Klipper-Add-On, which needs root access on the printer's single-board computer and Klipper or Kalico 0.12.0 or newer. WHAT FORMBOT'S 189.05 USD DOES NOT INCLUDE. Its page says the same thing as its Voron kit page: 'This kit doesn't include any 3d printed parts.' Formbot sells the printed set for US 85.00, which the independent reviewer calls fair given the alternative is three or four rolls of filament including TPU and clear. It also does not include the toolhead-side printed parts for the filament cutter - those the owner prints from the FilamATrix repository to match their own extruder and hotend, which is only possible once the printer works. Formbot does state that the current version includes the FilamATrix hardware. CONTROL BOARD - UNRESOLVED, AND IT MATTERS. ArmoredTurtle explicitly warns buyers to 'ensure they are sourcing a kit that comes with an AFC-Lite controller board' and names a vendor shipping a substandard AFC-X board that died in two days. Formbot's product page does not itemise which board is in the box, and Formbot's BoxTurtle collection sells only three things - this kit, the printed parts and an enclosure kit - with no separate board SKU, which is consistent with the board being included but is not proof. This is the single most consequential unverified fact in this file and should be confirmed with Formbot before purchase. The project itself is healthy: ArmoredTurtle/BoxTurtle is GPL-3.0, 1,175 stars, last pushed 2026-08-05 (GitHub API, 2026-09-06). Formbot's listing shows 440 sold and 5.0 from 7 reviews. AUDIT 2026-09-06: Formbot is not on ArmoredTurtle's vetted vendor list (checked 2026-09-06, see ki-boxturtle-nonvetted-vendor-boards); vetted US vendors sell the same kit for 299.99 USD against Formbot's 189.05 USD, and the price gap is unexplained. Formbot also lists a BoxTurtle enclosure kit; its price did not render in the capture, so it is not recorded here.",

The independent reviewer priced the alternative honestly: 'you need at least one color that's over a whole spool, if not two colors, some TPU, and some clear filament for the corners ... at least three, if not four rolls of filament to print this whole thing. So, 85 bucks isn't a bad price.' He also flags that the Formbot kit needs Formbot's own printed corner STL rather than the stock BoxTurtle one, and that the Formbot version lacks the built-in supports the stock part has, so it needs slicer support tuning.",

Phrozen had to redesign the purge wiper because the original clogged the outlet during multi-color printing (T1 help center). Owners report the purging far exceeding expectations - including reload purges on single-material prints (T4, 2026-03-26 and 2026-08-25). See ki-phrozen-chroma-purge-runaway.",

"notes": "First-party Phrozen product for Phrozen's own printer, so it satisfies hard filter (c); is_third_party is false. Four independent PTFE tubes run from the unit to a hub on the print head rather than one shared tube, which the vendor claims cuts color-change time by 50 percent and which a reviewer agreed reduces friction and clogs 'slightly'. Built-in 70 C heater with six drying presets, humidity and temperature readout and pre-installed desiccant. CHAINING IS UNRESOLVED: Phrozen's spec says '4 colors (expandable up to 7-8)', but a reviewer examining the spare USB port on the unit in January 2026 reported daisy-chaining was 'not an active or promised feature' at that time. chainable is therefore null, not true. MOUNTING GOTCHA: the Chroma Kit has to sit on top of the printer, either on the PentaShield lid or on brackets you 3D print yourself. If you buy the printer and the kit together with no other printer available, you must set the Arco up single-color first and print the brackets - Phrozen's supplied files took over a day and nearly a full reel of filament in one reviewer's test. It also needs its own mains power and does nothing without it. MATERIALS, AND PHROZEN CONTRADICTS ITSELF HERE (conflict recorded in the audit pass, not resolved): the Chroma Kit's own product page lists PRINTING support as PLA, PET/PETG, ABS, PC and carbon/glass-fiber reinforced filament, with ASA appearing only in the DRYING list; but the Arco product page's 'Works with Chroma Kit' spec block lists 'Printing: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PA, PET'. Both pages are Phrozen's, both retrieved 2026-09-06, and they disagree about ASA and PA. No weight is placed on either; the configurations score asa_ready = false on the enclosure argument, which does not depend on this. Requires Arco firmware V1.8.5 or newer; V1.9.9 recommended (T1).",

Please purchase only if you accept the product's condition. Warranty: The special machine comes with a 3-month warranty.' Phrozen's standard warranty is twelve months. Given that the Chroma Kit is the part of this system with the most reported hardware trouble - feed and retraction timeouts, cutters that wear or fall off, one owner receiving a unit with a damaged screen - cutting its warranty from twelve months to three to save 99 USD is a poor trade for this buyer. It is captured because the brief requires refurbished and outlet stock to be captured and flagged, not because it is recommended. It added to a live cart successfully alongside the printer on 2026-09-06 and the cart still quoted free shipping to Massachusetts, so it is genuinely purchasable.\n\nSTOCK IS ONE UNIT. Owners on r/QidiTech3D (2026-03-14) independently describe multi-color printing as wasteful - 'the filament swapping process is fairly slow and purges a not-insignificant amount of filament for each change' and 'multicolor makes a lot of waste'. A Q2 Combo owner on r/QIDI (2026-02-11) timed each filament change at 2 minutes 50 seconds 'plus extra poop' and contrasted it with a Prusa MMU3 at about 15 seconds, noting that a 750-change print would add roughly 35 hours. On 2026-09-06 the us.snapmaker.com product page is badged 'Pre-Order' at $149 (compare-at $249, '40% off') and states 'Shipped from US Warehouse: November 01-15'. Snapmaker's own wiki shipment-schedule page confirms it: a Top Cover ordered through the official store after 2026-01-13 for the US has an estimated ship window of November 01-15, 2026 and an estimated delivery window of November 15-30, 2026. This is a back-ordered accessory of a product that physically exists and is being delivered to Kickstarter backers in September and October 2026 - it is not vaporware - but a buyer ordering today would wait roughly ten weeks. The store page carries only 4 reviews.\n\nWHAT IT DOES (Snapmaker spec, 2026-09-06): PC housing, magnetic front door, 424 x 510 x 307 mm, 3.6 kg (U1 + cover = 584 x 510 x 753 mm, 21.8 kg). Passive chamber management reaching up to 50 degrees C at 25 degrees C ambient with the bed at 100 degrees C (Snapmaker Lab figure, 30 minutes). Three-stage air filtration: G3 pre-filter, coconut-shell activated carbon, H12 HEPA, supporting VOC and particulate filtration. Filament support with the cover: PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PET, ABS, ASA, PA, PC.\n\nIMPORTANT LIMITS, all from Snapmaker's own footnotes: the three-stage filtration works ONLY in internal-circulation mode. External-circulation mode is heat exhaust and does NOT pass air through the filters, so when printing PLA/TPU/PVA the chamber air is vented into the room unless you attach an exhaust hose - Snapmaker provides a printable adapter model rather than a part. High-temperature and heat-sensitive filaments cannot be run in the same print. The filtration system shuts down 10 minutes after a print ends and Snapmaker recommends waiting those 10 minutes before opening the door after ABS/ASA/PC/PA. Replacement filters are 'available soon' and were not purchasable on 2026-09-06, so the consumable cost and replacement interval of the filter are unknown.\n\nVENDOR NOISE CLAIM, NOT A MEASUREMENT: Snapmaker's FAQ says the cover 'helps maintain average operating noise under 50 dB in internal circulation mode'. No independent measurement of this exists; treat it as marketing.",
