A weighted ranking is only as good as its weights, and the weights are a judgment about one person's priorities rather than a fact. So the whole ranking was recomputed under several alternate weightings, including one that assumes acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)) reinforced with glass fiber (glass fiber (GF)) is the whole reason for the purchase. A recommendation that survives all of them is robust. One that wins only under the default weights has to be described in exactly those words.
4 different configurations win across the five weightings, which means the answer here is not robust in the strong sense, and the report says so rather than hiding it.
He came in leaning toward the Bambu Lab P2S with an Automatic Material System (AMS), and weighing the X2D.

The P2S never leaves the top five and wins three of the five weightings. The X2D never beats it under any weighting at all. That is the clearest single result in this report: the lean is broadly right, and the specific upgrade he was considering is not worth its price for his stated use.
The two weightings that overturn the answer both do so for reasons worth understanding rather than dismissing. Raising openness to 30 puts the QIDI Q2 first, because it is a genuinely open Klipper machine with shell access and a browser interface where the Bambu is the most closed mainstream option here. Doubling the multi-material weight puts the Snapmaker U1 first, because a toolchanger does not purge a nozzle on every color change and the measured difference is enormous. If either of those things matters more to the buyer than the default weights assume, the answer changes.
